Sister companies KWR and Allied Waters transform science into market propositions

Making an impact for the water sector

KWR and Allied Waters meet in their work on central themes in the Water – Energy – Food nexus. The driver here is scientific knowledge, where KWR has a proven track record. In turn, Allied Waters plays a strong role in the implementation of innovative concepts in the water cycle. KWR and Allied Waters have formally been sister companies since 19 December 2022. Together, we create valuable ways to transform science into market propositions.

Driving the circular economy

The Allied Waters motto is ‘driving the circular economy’ in the broad sense: in the Allied Waters vision, a circular economy is one that handles products, materials and resources efficiently and in a socially responsible way within ecological constraints so that future generations can continue to prosper. Allied Waters works closely with private companies because of the crucial role played by those companies. In effect, this is a hybrid model involving alliances with both business and the knowledge community. The core values that typify Allied Waters are: a ‘make it happen’ attitude, market focus, collaboration, societal entrepreneurship and continuous innovation. That links up in a recognisable and complementary way to the work done by KWR.

Transforming knowledge into market propositions: what are the themes?

KWR sees Allied Waters as a valuable partner in transforming science into market propositions. Conversely, it follows from the partnership that the knowledge institute itself is also inspired by issues that emerge from practice. Examples are key issues such as the water footprint, re-using water, green hydrogen, re-using residuals and monitoring biodiversity. It is only with this unique combination of expert knowledge, practical experience, research and consultancy that we can have a genuine impact.
