Alexander Garzón is a researcher in the KWR Hydroinformatics team. In this role, he focuses on bridging water management challenges with advanced computational solutions, with an emphasis on artificial intelligence. His work centers on applying machine learning and deep learning techniques, as well as developing innovative software tools for water research and practice.

Alexander developed his expertise during his PhD at TU Delft, where he researched deep learning models as high-speed surrogate simulators for urban water networks. He holds a BSc in Environmental Engineering and an MSc in Civil Engineering, specializing in hydroinformatics. During this time, he also conducted research on the optimization of urban water systems using evolutionary algorithms.

Leveraging the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, including generative AI, large language models, and AI agents, Alexander explores how these technologies can be safely and effectively applied in the water sector to deliver practical and impactful solutions.

He is passionate about developing computational tools that address real-world water challenges and about sharing knowledge with researchers and water management professionals to support innovation and informed decision-making.
