Marius Rokstad

Marius Møller Rokstad is a researcher in the Urban Water Networks team. He has a background as a civil engineer, with specialization in water and wastewater engineering. In his career, Marius’ work has primarily been anchored around water infrastructure asset management. Within the frame of asset management, Marius has worked with various types of models for assessing piped infrastructure performance and condition (including hydraulic, deterioration, statistical and machine learning models), inspection and condition assessment, data quality issues, spatial and GIS analysis, and design and optimization of water networks. He also has experience of working with strategic planning of water infrastructure in conjunction with urban planning and development, as well as teaching and supervision on bachelor, master and PhD level. Before joining KWR, Marius worked at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (first as a post.doc. in 2018-2020 and later as associate professor, 2021-2026) and in the consultancy company Asplan Viak (2012-2021), in Trondheim. Having a background ranging from academic research to applied water infrastructure planning, Marius enjoys finding ways to combine cutting-edge research with practical considerations and effective ways of presentation to help water utilities make good decisions about how to manage their systems.
