Enno de Vries is a researcher in Geohydrology. He received his PhD from Utrecht University, where he investigated pore-scale processes using microfluidic chips. There, he designed experimental set-ups to directly observe colloid transport and transport of solutes in complex porous media. During his post-doc period at Utrecht University, Enno conducted research on Schmutzdecke formed during slow sand filtration and performed laboratory experiments to investigate the influence of air-water interface on mobilisation of colloids. He has also conducted collaborative research with the University of Stuttgart on the evaporation of water in porous media in contact with the atmosphere. Besides his experience as an experimentalist, Enno is also adept at modelling geohydrological issues, such as groundwater and tracer transport, using Computational fluid dynamics (CFD), Pore-Network modelling and MODFLOW.
