Renske Hoondert works as a researcher and project manager in the Chemical Water Quality and Health group. She studied Biology at Radboud University in Nijmegen, after which in 2020 she earned her doctorate at the same university for her work on the modelling of the chemical behaviour and ecotoxicological impact of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in the Arctic environment. She then worked as a lecturer in statistics, in academic skills and in programming in R at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Amsterdam. At KWR, Renske is involved in various projects in the area of data analysis and (the modelling of) chemical behaviour and the risk assessment of polluting compounds and microplastics. She contributes, among others, to projects concerned with the direct prediction of bioassay results, by examining patterns in physical-chemical properties of compounds through the use of QSARs (Quantitative structure-activity relationships).
