Daniël Bakker works as a researcher Energy and Water in the team Energy and Circular Systems. He investigates the opportunities and challenges of the interaction between the energy transition and the water cycle. By applying pragmatic models and tools he provides insight into the operation and business case of energy systems. Daniël focusses on the integration of different elements, such as geothermal energy, aquathermy, green hydrogen production and district heating into a sustainable, ‘water-wise’ solution. For several years Daniël has worked as an energy consultant in the field of compliance and tools for SMEs, and the sustainability of the industry and the built environment. In addition, he has carried out various (inter)national research projects as a consultant to accelerate the energy transition on business parks. Daniel has a background in applied physics and obtained his PhD for interdisciplinary experimental research into gas-phase far-infrared spectroscopy.
