Arvid van Dam is a researcher in the Innovation & Valorisation team. As an anthropologist, he is interested in the tensions and opportunities that may arise between different stakeholders in societal issues. At KWR, he is engaged in stakeholder engagement, the implementation of conceptual knowledge, co-creation, and the development of tools to increase research impact. He is specialised in qualitative research and makes extensive use of interviews, observation and focus groups. Arvid received his PhD from the University of Leeds (UK) with ethnographic research on water scarcity, innovation, and spatial development in Spain. He was a visiting fellow at the Rachel Carson Center in Munich during his PhD. After his PhD, he coordinated an interdisciplinary research project on innovation in environmental management and livestock farming in southern Africa at the University of Bonn (DE). Previously, he conducted research in Argentina (among war veterans) and Sri Lanka (on disaster recovery).
