Installation Technician (32–40 hours)

Do you bring water science to life?

At KWR, we don’t wait for the future,we build it. In our modern workshop in Nieuwegein, we translate complex water research into practical, working solutions. We’re looking for a skilled, independent colleague to join our close-knit team. Someone who thrives on variety and technology in the broadest sense of the word.

What are you going to do?

Together with three experienced colleagues, you’ll be the technical driving force behind our innovative projects. You’ll design, build, and maintain unique pilot plants for water researchers and clients.

Design & Construction: You’ll work on a wide range of mechanical and electrical engineering solutions (mechanical and electrical engineering).

Consulting: You’ll collaborate with the client and translate an idea into a working system or test setup.

Variety: You’ll usually work in the workshop, but sometimes you’ll spend a day on the road installing your equipment on-site in the water sector. No two days are the same: you’ll constantly be building new installations and taking on fresh challenges to advance the research.

Who are you?

You’re a friendly and creative team player who knows how to get things done. You enjoy figuring out new things and are just as comfortable working independently as you are with your colleagues.

  • Education: MBO+ or HBO level of work and thinking.
  • All-rounder: You have a broad technical foundation (e.g., mechatronics, measurement and control technology, pump systems, and/or light structural work).
  • Mindset: You are self-motivated; if you don’t know something, you figure it out until it works. Or you find the right colleague who can help you with it.
  • Communication: You speak and write Dutch and English well.

What do we offer?

A unique workplace where technology and social impact come together.

  • Growth: Plenty of opportunities for personal development, courses, and training.
  • Work-Life Balance: A healthy work-life balance in a modern, sustainable work environment.
  • Benefits: An excellent salary in accordance with the Water Companies Collective Bargaining Agreement, including a Flexible Benefits Budget of 15.49% and a solid pension plan (ABP).

Who are we?

Clean and safe water is a precious resource. KWR is an internationally renowned research institute, and we contribute to applied scientific research across the entire water cycle. Our mission is: ‘Bridging science and practice’. Our 200 employees work on innovative projects in the Netherlands and, increasingly, throughout the rest of Europe. The ten Dutch drinking water companies and the Belgian De Watergroep are our shareholders.

Our researchers work at the intersection of science, implementation practice, the business community, and society. Their strength lies in translating scientific knowledge into practical solutions. To support its research, KWR has specialized laboratories, a test hall, and a test pond, and it builds its own test facilities, which are often used for (on-site) practical research at our clients’ locations.

Will you be our new colleague?

Would you like to work with us toward a sustainable society? If so, please send your cover letter and resume to vacancy@kwrwater.nl by 18 May 2026, citing job posting number 260330. The first round of interviews is scheduled for May 26.
