KWR is the leading public-oriented water knowledge institute with high-quality laboratories that conducts independent research. The organization was founded more than fifty years ago in response to the need for research and innovation in drinking water supply. KWR brings the value of water to life through applied scientific knowledge. It does so based on the conviction that water plays a key role in a prosperous society. The guiding principle is the impact that is achieved: knowledge from KWR’s research contributes to sufficient and safe water for people and nature.

KWR researchers operate at the intersection of science and practice, with their strength lying in translating scientific knowledge into applicable solutions. KWR’s clients include water companies, water boards, governments, industry, and SMEs.

KWR aims to be a leader in the Netherlands and internationally in finding scientifically based solutions to global water issues through high-quality, excellent research. KWR’s vision is to develop over the next ten years into a knowledge institute for transformative water science with a European profile.

The Impact Manager position is a new and challenging role within KWR. It is a managerial position focused on both the internal strategy of the organization and its external representation. The Impact Manager contributes to KWR’s ambition to be a national and international leader in finding scientifically based solutions to global water issues through high-quality, excellent research. KWR has one foot in science and one foot in practice, and this will be particularly true of the work performed by the Impact Manager.

The Impact Manager is responsible for developing the five Impact Themes in order to bridge the gap between the needs and future challenges of clients and society and the scientific knowledge and applications developed by KWR scientists, in close collaboration with the MT. The Impact Manager increases the use and visibility of the knowledge and applications developed for stakeholders, clients, and society.

The position combines strategic development of the organization with market research, analyzing market trends, and identifying opportunities for sustainable growth. The position is part of the management team. The Impact Manager is jointly responsible for day-to-day management, project management, and managing the teams working on the five impact themes.
