Stefania works as researcher within the Innovation and Valorisation team. Her work has an applied focus and revolves around two lines of research: knowledge valorisation, and policy and governance. The valorisation research focuses on understanding how to make KWR’s research outputs suitable and available for economic and societal use. In this context, she deals with issues such as knowledge translation, transfer, up taking and research evaluation. As for policy and governance, she works on the operationalization of the water-energy-food nexus, and in particular on conceptual and operational policy and governance needs and barriers for embedding the nexus approach into a circular economy system. In her research she mostly uses qualitative methodologies such as interviews, participant observations, serious gaming, and network analysis. Previously she worked at the IVM-VU University Amsterdam and at the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL) on issues such as policy change, science-policy interface, policy coherence, learning, evaluation and stakeholder’s participation in the water, climate, energy and agriculture domains. She also has extensive experience on project coordination and management, mostly EU projects, and MSc and PhD students’ supervision. She has published numerous scientific reports, peer reviewed scientific articles, presented research results at international conferences, and acted as reviewer of project proposals for different organizations.
