New composition of KWR Management Team

Two vacant positions within KWR’s Management Team have now been filled. As of 1 July, Andrew Segrave has started as Impact Manager. Prior to this, he was Chief Strategist at KWR. On 1 September, Moniek Schomper-Idema will join KWR as CFO. Together with Managing Director Mariëlle van der Zouwen and Research Manager Idsart Dijkstra – both of whom have been working at KWR in various roles for many years – the Management Team is now complete.

During a recent internal meeting, Mariëlle van der Zouwen introduced the two new Management Team members to employees.

With the new Vision and Strategy for 2035, KWR has a clear sense of the direction in which we are heading. I look forward to bringing the values of water to life through applied scientific research together with my new management team. I would like to welcome Moniek Schomper-Idema to the organisation as Financial Manager, and I look forward to continuing my collaboration with Andrew Segrave in his new role as Manager Impact.”

Andrew Segrave, Manager Impact

Andrew Segrave leads the new Impact department. With this department, Andrew aims to place the water dimensions of major societal challenges at the centre and emphasise that practice is both our starting point and our ultimate goal. To achieve real-world impact through knowledge and innovations, the Impact department brings together different scientific disciplines, often in co-creation with societal partners. Andrew has a background in foresight, strategy development and place-based, transdisciplinary research for transformations towards sustainability.

Ultimately, we all want to know what we are working on and how our work benefits society and the environment. That is what impact is about. In pursuing impact, KWR works with mission-driven, theory-of-change approaches. We design programmes and projects with knowledge valorisation in mind. Our impact pathways are the routes through which our knowledge and innovations are put to use. These pathways require strong relationships between KWR and its stakeholder groups, both in the Netherlands and internationally.”

Moniek Schomper-Idema, CFO and Manager Operations

As of 1 September, Moniek Schomper-Idema will become the new CFO. Moniek brings extensive experience as a finance professional, with a strong focus on strategic change and organisational development. She is recognised for her ability to connect strategy and implementation and to engage teams in this process. Recently, she was Interim Director of Operations at Evides, where she was responsible for, among other areas, Finance, IT, Facilities and Procurement. Prior to that, she held various senior finance and change management roles at Eneco.

“I am looking forward to joining KWR after the summer. Developing knowledge about water and increasing its societal value are essential for a resilient and liveable world. This mission aligns perfectly with my personal ambition to create sustainable impact for people and society. Together with colleagues and partners, I hope to further strengthen the connection between science and practice and contribute to the development of innovative and transformative solutions for water and society.”

In September, we will say farewell to Erika Marseille (CFO) and Jos Boere (Director of Allied Waters and former Deputy Director of KWR).
