Miina Yanagihara is a scientific researcher in the Chemical Water Quality and Health team. She works on chemical risk assessment by linking chemical and water quality data with (eco)toxicological data. Her expertise lies in data analysis, including quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR) and species sensitivity distributions (SSDs), which she applies to assess the impact of chemical pollution. At KWR, Miina contributes to multiple projects related to chemical risk assessment. A recent project focuses on associations between in vitro assay responses and features from non-target screening in water samples. She combines her knowledge of in vitro assays and analytical chemistry with computational and statistical methods. Miina received her PhD in Engineering from the University of Tokyo (Japan). Over the past few years, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Ehime University (Japan), funded by a fellowship of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, through which she undertook her research at KWR as a guest researcher.
