Stefan Kools works at KWR as a researcher, team leader and project manager. He has work experience in many different positions, both from a scientific framework and in consultancy. He has a broad education in environmental science and did his PhD in ecotoxicology. His work is characterised by a combination of specialised knowledge of chemistry and biology in new research and usable advice. He has used his knowledge of substance analysis and the effects on humans and animals to solve various monitoring issues. At KWR, Stefan mainly works on general water quality issues, and microplastics and bioassays in particular. He takes great pleasure in working on a team of experts and professionals. In a national context, he e.g. works for the drinking water companies as a secretary of the Water Quality advisory committee. In an international context, he supports RIWA in the IAWR, plays an active role in the NORMAN network and is a member of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC). For KWR, he leads the Chemical Water Quality and Health (CWG) team and manages various projects.
