Year Review 2023: our adventurous quest for water knowledge

KWR Water Research Institute has published its year review for 2023, which presents an overview of the developments and performances in the area of water research and innovation

The year review underlines KWR’s ongoing commitment to improving water quality, reinforcing water safety, and promoting circular and sustainable water management. In 2023 KWR collaborated with a variety of partners from the water sector, government and industry. This always involves the development of innovative solutions to current challenges, such as dealing with drought, starting with the circular economy and the role of water, enabling strategic thinking based on future scenarios, and protecting and diversifying water sources.

Water research knowledge leader

Dragan Savic, KWR’s CEO, explains in the year review : ‘2023 was a period of intensive collaboration and innovation, in which KWR strengthened its role as knowledge leader in the area of water research. We are proud of the results we achieved, and will continue working to ensure the delivery of impactful solutions for a sustainable water cycle.’

Forty years of collective research programme

The highlights of the year review include many impactful research results, successful implementations of new technologies, and strategic partnerships that have led to concrete improvements in water management. In 2023 we moreover celebrated the fortieth anniversary of our Joint Research Programme with the water utilities (BTO). The year review also elucidates KWR’s international activities and the contribution to global water challenges.
