As a researcher on the Chemical Water Quality and Health team, Ton van Leerdam draws on thirty years of experience to safeguard the (chemical) quality of the water cycle and signal new chemical compounds. In doing so he applies state-of-the-art analytical techniques in close collaboration with KWR’s Chemical Laboratory. Currently his most valuable project involves broad chemical screening, using high-resolution mass spectrometry, which produces as complete an image as possible of the water quality. He tracks developments in monitoring the chemical water quality through the scientific literature, international networks and congresses. Furthermore, Ton is a manager of water-related projects in the Top Sector Alliance for Knowledge and Innovation (TKI) programme, the point of contact for REWAB and a member of the KWR Works Council.
