Presenting QMRA at Iranian Conference on Environmental Health and Sustainable Development

Iran is facing many challenges in the field of environmental health, including air pollution, water and food contamination and solid waste management. These are both man made contaminants like trafic and industry, and natural challenges like dust storms and the arid climate. I was invited to speak about application of quantitative microbial risk assessment in the water cycle.

The shortage of water makes water reuse either for drinking or irrigation essential as a sustainable solution for the future. The conference puts Iran into the international arena of environmental health research and many valuable insights were shared between the national and international experts. One could sense the energy of young researchers and policy makers to apply this knowledge to improve environmental health in Iran. It was a great opportunity to initiatie international collaboration in research and education in this field and I look forward to inspiring projects in the future.
