A future targeting three interconnected knowledge markets

KWR applies scientific knowledge to water practice. Our strategy targets three interconnected knowledge markets. First, together with the water sector, we have developed a solid knowledge base to tackle complex water challenges. Second, we are building a national and international reference framework of successful products for the innovation of the water cycle. And, third, we seek out partnerships with suitable market players for the commercialisation of market-ready knowledge products.

      Knowledge base

KWR’s foundation is the knowledge we develop on the basis of our leading, applied scientific research into the water cycle. We are experts in a wide range of specialist fields and we inspire the water sector to define its research issues and questions. Together, we build the knowledge needed to address complex water challenges.

In the Netherlands we are the coordinator and principal implementor of BTO, the joint research programme for the Dutch water companies, De Watergroep from Belgium and Vewin, the Dutch branch association. We also set up research programmes at the European level with a view to extending our knowledge base even further. In addition, we collaborate with prominent Dutch and international knowledge institutes.

      References

We test the knowledge produced by our research in practice, to render it suitable for the market. In the Netherlands and internationally, we are building a reference framework of successful products for the innovation of the water cycle

We conduct projects within TKI Water Technology, which is part of the Dutch Water Top Sector programme, in which knowledge institutes, government and businesses collaborate on innovations and the creation of economic value from the knowledge developed. We are also the founder of Watershare, an international network of public water-sector parties who share knowledge and tools within a Community of Practice.

      Knowledge products

Knowledge products that have proved themselves in practice are ready for the market. To find commercial applications for such products, KWR pursues collaborations with suitable market players within the Allied Waters partnership.
