Arnaut van Loon is a wide-ranging hydrogeologist, who is active as a researcher and project manager in the field of rewetting, freshwater management and groundwater protection. As an applied researcher, he contributes to improving the future-proofness of fragile, water-dependent functions, such as a nature and the drinking water provision. Arnaut has for instance recently conducted research on the building blocks of a future-proof groundwater protection policy, the value of nature for a healthy water system, and the ‘greying’ of the groundwater system with an increasingly complex mixture of contaminants. Arnaut is a leader of the Groundwater Quality and Protection line of research, and a member of the Fen and Sea Clay Landscapes Expert Team of the OBN Knowledge Network for Nature Restoration and Management.
