Webinar 5: Technologies for smart and circular water management

Event details

Date: 7 April 2022
Time: 13:00-14:00 (CET)
Online

More people, which means more food, more energy is required, but little water is available to meet these growing needs. This changing environment is prompting us to rethink and redesign traditional linear supply chains for production, consumption and disposal. Business models and technologies need to inspire a transition to circular principles for water management.

Prof. Francesco Fatone and Prof. Christos Makropoulos will present innovative technological and business solutions for water in the circular economy as part of demonstration cases for two EU projects, ULTIMATE and NEXTGEN. In such a way, the webinar hopes to contribute to the transition of utilities to a circular water economy from the recovery of resources to related business models to collaboration with other sector water users.

  • Introduction (Joep van den Broeke, KWR)
  • Case of Aretusa in ULTIMATE (Prof. Francesco Fatone, Università Politecnica delle Marche)
  • Case of Athens in NEXTGEN (Prof. Christos Makropoulos, National Technical University of Athens)
  • Questions and general discussion

The webinar, organised by KWR’s Joint Research Programme of the Dutch and Flemish drinking water sector and Watershare, will take place on 7 April 2022 from 13:00-14:00 (NL local time). The webinar on technologies for smart circular water solutions is the sixth in the ‘Sharing International Experiences on Water Supply’ webinar series.
