Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)

Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) is a method to determine the environmental impact of a product or process. Over 20 environmental parameters are studied, e.g. ecotoxicity, human health, climate change, land use and resource exhaustion. Besides, it can be calculated how much CO2 is emitted during a process or during production and use of a product. This method not only can be used to calculate the impact of a certain product or process, or to compare the environmental impact of different products or processes, but also to determine the most efficient way to decrease this impact. In this way LCA is a valuable instrument in sustainability studies.
