Stefanie Salmon is a Resilience Management & Governance researcher at KWR. In her PhD project at the University of Groningen (Department of Marketing), in collaboration with Utrecht University (Department of Health Psychology), she looked at behaviour change. More specifically, she focused on encouraging behaviours that align with long-term goals (such as healthy or sustainable behaviours). More specifically, Stefanie has demonstrated that it is precisely in conditions where self-control is low, in which people make decisions without thinking, that people can be encouraged to make sensible decisions that are in line with long term goals. In the context of KWR’s public design portfolio, she studies customer perspectives and conducts behavioural research. Stefanie explores how drinking water customers can be stimulated to conserve water. She also applies her knowledge about behaviour in research into the acceptance of water reuse, rainwater use and risk perception.
