Stefanie Salmon PhD

Stefanie Salmon is a researcher on KWR’s Resilience Management & Governance team. She earned her doctorate in the field of behavioural change from the University of Groningen (Department of Marketing), in collaboration with Utrecht University (Department of Health Psychology). Her research was on the stimulation of behaviour that is in line with long-term goals (such as healthy or sustainable behaviour). More specifically, her work demonstrated that conditions of low self-control, when people make mindless choices, are actually propitious to stimulate people to make reasonable choices over the long term. At KWR, Stefanie works on the behaviour of drinking water utility customers. She studies ways of inciting customer water-conservation behaviour or behaviours that have an impact on the quality of drinking water. She also applies her behavioural knowledge to research on customer perspectives, tap-water awareness and risk perception.
