Amitosh Dash is a researcher in the Water Infrastructure team at KWR. His work focuses on understanding water quality transitions during drinking water supply and on assessing the condition of water distribution materials and assets.

His key topics of interest include:
Lead leaching behaviour and consumer exposure via plumbing
Assessment of PVC materials in drinking water systems
Application of CT-scanning techniques for pipe condition assessment
Use of Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing to detect anomalies in water networks
Field measurements of drinking water warming due to external influences

Relying on measurements is Amitosh’s go-to approach – whether in the field or the lab – often supported by desktop studies such as literature research, data analysis, and numerical modelling.

Over the years, he has developed his expertise through several challenging research projects, working closely with colleagues from KWR, drinking water utilities, universities, and technology providers. These collaborations have helped him strike a balance between perfectionism and pragmatism, always aiming to connect scientific questions with practical needs.
Feel free to reach out if you would like to know more about any of the topics mentioned above or explore opportunities for collaboration.
