Alex Hockin is a researcher in the Water Quality & Health team. She has an MSc in hydrology from Utrecht University where she completed her studies cum laude. Alex’s MSc thesis was a case study on the potential for the bioremediation of tar. In her MSc thesis Alex studied the interaction of chemical and microbial processes, which controlled the fate and distribution of contaminants both in-situ and in laboratory experiments. In the past Alex worked on a range of water-related issues in the Great Lakes (Canada), including freshwater plastic pollution and groundwater/surface-water nutrient fluxes. Alex is particularly interested in multidisciplinary research projects where her broad knowledge base is an asset. At KWR, Alex will work on projects jointly within the Chemical and Microbial Water Quality & Health teams.
