Kick-off meeting Water in the Circular Economy: WiCE

Event details

Drinking water companies in the Netherlands and Belgium have taken the initiative to set up a research programme focussed on Water in the Circular Economy (WiCE). This concerns a long-term, water-chain wide research programme (2018-2023). The majority of you have been involved in the preliminary phase of this. Together with partners in and around the water chain we aim to shape this further.

With the WiCE research programme, the drinking water companies also aiming to make a contribution towards social projects such as a Circular Economy in the Netherlands by 2050 and the energy transition. In addition to solar and wind, in the future water will also become an increasingly important source and carrier of energy.

Important research themes within the WiCE programme are:

  • Recovery and reuse of raw materials from water flows;
  • Reuse of freshwater, chain-wide approach to water quality;
  • Energy;
  • Climate adaption and value governance in the chain.

What can you expect?

During this afternoon meeting you will be informed further about the initiative. We will also be discussing how you can become involved with the WiCE, we will be presenting the new WiCE website and we will close the meeting with a networking get-together. All of this will be undertaken interactively.
