Maaike Besteman

Maaike Besteman is a scientific researcher in the field of Microbiological Water Quality and Health. Maaike completed her PhD at Wageningen University, where she conducted research into microbial interactions involved in the conversion of fatty acids to biogas, an important process for the treatment of sludge at wastewater treatment plants. Her research at KWR focuses on projects in which microbial activity plays an important role. This includes various microbiological issues related to water quality preservation, including in the horticultural sector and in drinking water systems.
