Opening Urban Waterbuffer Spangen

The Waterbuffer Spangen is a circular concept, developed within the TKI Urban Waterbuffer project. The rainwater from the Sparta Stadium and surroundings is harvested and retained under the new Cruyff Court. It is then stored in a deep water aquifer in the subsurface. Before being stored in the subsurface, the water flows through a container with filtering vegetation. The clean rainwater is then recovered later from the subsurface to water the field of the Sparta Stadium and the vegetation.
