The week puts science, innovation and societal challenges centre stage, bringing together researchers, knowledge institutions, businesses and civil society organisations. KWR is also contributing to this year\u2019s programme.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Utrecht Science Week opened with a keynote by Professor Juliette Legler, Chair of KWR\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwrwater.nl\/en\/about-kwr\/research-agenda-and-quality-assurance\/external-scientific-advisory-council\/\">External Scientific Advisory Board<\/a>. Legler is a professor at Utrecht University and conducts research into the effects of chemicals on human health and the environment. In her lecture, <em>Healthy Planet, Healthy People: Towards Solutions for a Polluted World<\/em>, Legler explained how environmental chemicals, such as endocrine-disrupting substances and microplastics, affect the health of people, animals and ecosystems. She shared the latest scientific insights and showed how collaboration between science, policy and society can contribute to innovative solutions and a healthier living environment.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" style=\"width: 300px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kwrwater.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Juliette-Legler-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Professor Juliette Legler is Chair of KWR\u2019s External Scientific Advisory Board.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Water Dialogue<\/h2>\n<p>On Wednesday 30 September 2026, water will take centre stage during the <a href=\"https:\/\/usw26-waterdialoog.events.utrechtsciencepark.nl\/\"><em>Water Dialogue: the Future of Water<\/em><\/a>. Roberta Hofman, Principal Scientist at KWR and Professor of Innovative Water Systems at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, will take part in the event.
