This award is one of the most prestigious honours in the field of solar energy. The presentation took place at the 17th International Photovoltaic Power Generation and Smart Energy Conference and Exhibition (SNEC PV+) in Shanghai.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ad van Wijk is recognised worldwide as a pioneer and advocate of solar energy. At the <a href=\"https:\/\/pv.snec.org.cn\/\">SNEC-PV conference<\/a>, he was honoured with the Global Solar Leaders Award in the category <a href=\"https:\/\/pv.snec.org.cn\/article\/74bb0b2c-6c13-4d46-87bb-114b7a5dddfb?locale=en-US\">Global Solar Scientists<\/a>. The award recognises his major contribution to the promotion and development of solar energy. This year\u2019s award is being presented for the first time by the Global Solar Council, the Global Green Energy Industry Council (GGEI), the Asian Photovoltaic Industry Association (APVIA), and the New Energy Industry Association Asia Pacific (NEIAAP). It is given to individuals who have had a significant impact on the global integration of solar energy in energy networks.<\/p>\n<h2>Global development of solar energy<\/h2>\n<p>Ad van Wijk is recognised internationally for his research and innovations that improve the efficiency and application of solar energy. During his career, he has contributed a great deal to the development and production of solar energy such as solar cells and solar farms. He has also written several books on green energy, including the recently published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwrwater.nl\/en\/actueel\/green-energy-for-all-is-more-than-a-pipe-dream\/\">\u2018Green Energy for All\u2019<\/a>. His work focuses primarily on integrating solar energy in existing energy networks and developing sustainable solutions for the energy transition.<\/p>\n<h2>Visiting Professor of Energy and Water<\/h2>\n<p>Over the past twelve years, van Wijk has worked as the Professor of Future Energy Systems at Delft University of Technology. He is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwrwater.nl\/en\/experts-expertises\/experts\/prof-dr-ad-a-j-m-wijk-van\/\">visiting professor of Energy and Water<\/a> at KWR. In this role, he pioneers sustainable, integrated energy systems relating to solar energy and green hydrogen.
