For <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW148185867 BCX8\">implementation and societal acceptance of <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW148185867 BCX8\">the VHP4Safety concept, it is important that potential end users <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW148185867 BCX8\">and societal stakeholders <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW148185867 BCX8\">are involved from the beginning.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"TextRun SCXW96707654 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW96707654 BCX8\">Joint efforts to improve chemical safety assessment<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW96707654 BCX8\" data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:200,&quot;335559740&quot;:255}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwrwater.nl\/en\/projecten\/vhp4safety-towards-chemical-safety-assessment-based-on-human-data\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VHP4Safety project<\/a> has the mission to improve the prediction of the potential harmful effects of chemicals and pharmaceuticals based on a holistic, interdisciplinary definition of human health, to be represented in the Virtual Human Platform, and accelerating the transition from animal-based testing to innovative safety assessment.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:200,&quot;335559740&quot;:255}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">At <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencrew.com\/c\/9347\/a\/335082000?title=Recap_of_the_5th_Designathon\">5th VHP4Safety Designathon<\/a><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> project partners, stakeholders and potential end users, including KWR, were challenged to think along with the researchers on managing uncertainties in risk assessment. Also, the needs of specific end user categories were explored and shared, and the advantages and disadvantages of AI in risk assessment were discussed. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">These topics are all relevant for chemical water quality assessment.<\/span> <span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:200,&quot;335559740&quot;:255}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Connecting with stakeholders at an early stage<\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">For implementation and societal acceptance of the VHP4Safety concept, it is important that potential end users and societal stakeholders are involved from the beginning. The organization of this and previous Designathons, and Hackathons with a more technical context, are well received and contribute to achieve this.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:200,&quot;335559740&quot;:255}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">KWR was involved in a number of these interactive meetings with the focus of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">applying<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> the virtual human platform for hazard and risk assessment in a water quality context.
