Companies need to have enough water, of the right quality and at the right time. They also face wastewater questions: How to make sure that the wastewater may be discharged?\u00a0 Is it possible to reuse water and resources, and do so safely? KWR researchers, together with various clients and collaboration partners, work on these and other water questions faced by industry. We presented examples of such initiatives at the Aquatec in Amsterdam.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Specifically, under the theme of \u2018Improving Water Availability\u2019, our booth addressed five central questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Can we produce clean water from wastewater?<\/li>\n<li>Can we close the water cycle safely?<\/li>\n<li>What resources can we extract from wastewater?<\/li>\n<li>How can we use data smartly?<\/li>\n<li>How can we handle emerging contaminants?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Take a look at the video for a brief impression (the text continues below the video).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/373393761?title=0&amp;byline=0&amp;portrait=0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>KWR projects for and with industry<\/h2>\n<p>Drawing on examples from practice, KWR researchers showed how they approached their work and with what results. Researcher Hans Huiting gave a presentation in the Industrial User Experience, a presentation space on the trade-exhibition floor, about a project with DOW Benelux: \u2018Influence of condition chemicals on steam and condensate quality and performance\u2019.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwrwater.nl\/en\/projecten\/core-water\/\">CoRe Water<\/a> and ReCirc were also highlighted during networking drinks receptions at the end of the day. CoRe Water is an innovative wastewater treatment concept, which is currently being tested on municipal wastewater and also offers prospects for industrial wastewater. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwrwater.nl\/actueel\/samenwerking-grondstoffenterugwinning-circulaire-economie\/\">ReCirc Singapore<\/a>, which is about resource recovery, involves numerous international partners who were also present at the Aquatec, including PUB (Singapore) and Bureau of Wastewater Treatment (New York).<\/p>\n<h2>Up-to-date knowledge about the entire water cycle<\/h2>\n<p>In parallel with the Aquatec trade exhibition, many KWR colleagues were active at the Aquatec innovation forum and the AIWW conference. KWR\u2019s CEO, Dragan Savic, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aquatechtrade.com\/news\/aquatech-news\/innovation-forum-launch-creates-a-real-buzz\/\">led a vigorous panel discussion on water utilities and the role of artificial intelligence<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aquatechtrade.com\/news\/aquatech-news\/aquatech-innovation-forum-in-8-pictures\/\">also summarised the day\u2019s conclusions<\/a>. Our Chief Science Officer, Kees van Leeuwen, presented the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/sdg-6-clean-water-sanitation-4all-can-we-prevent-usd-22-van-leeuwen\/\">results of research into the financing of the water-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/a>: investments in the water sector must be based, more than they are today, on indicators and data linked to the SDG targets. Other KWR researchers gave presentations on subjects including resource recovery, micropollutants, water reuse, subsurface water storage, distribution networks, hydroinformatics and new treatment techniques.<\/p>\n<h2>Do you also have a question about water availability?
