The English-language online newspaper aims to become an international source of trade and scientific news on the water, energy and food nexus in the circular economy. The Circonomist is free and accessible at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.circonomist.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.circonomist.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The trigger for KWR\u2019s creation of The Circonomist was the start of the \u2018Water in the Circular Economy\u2019 research programme at the beginning of the year. In this programme water companies work together with partners in the watercycle on major societal challenges, like those of the \u2018Circular Economy in the Netherlands by 2050 Programme\u2019, the energy transition and climate adaptation. The following are The Circonomist\u2019s regular sections:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Resource Efficiency<\/li>\n<li>Freshwater Resource Management<\/li>\n<li>Quality in the Watercycle<\/li>\n<li>Water and Energy<\/li>\n<li>Value in the Watercycle<\/li>\n<li>Climate Adaptation<\/li>\n<li>Public interest<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>KWR researcher Marcel Paalman, project leader of the Water in the Circular Economy research programme, says: \u2018The Circonomist serves a public interest, namely, making applied scientific knowledge accessible, and connecting water-sector organisations and professionals. At the same time the newspaper will focus on public-private partnerships in the Netherlands and internationally.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The research programme got underway in late 2017 in collaboration with water companies, but the intention is to extend the collaboration to other partners in the water sector and, cross-sectorally, to partners in the energy and food sectors.<\/p>\n<h2>How does The Circonomist work?<\/h2>\n<p>The editors of The Circonomist in the start-up phase are KWR researchers who are experts regarding water in the circular economy. Their articles draw the readers\u2019 attention to important Dutch and international news in their professional field. Thanks to their scientific background and multiple years of practical experience, they are able to place and interpret the news within a broader context. Whenever possible, the newspaper also refers to relevant scientific literature and to the practical experience gained in projects. A good example of the latter is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwrwater.nl\/en\/actueel\/urban-waterbuffer-supplies-water-to-sparta-stadium\/\">waterbuffer in Rotterdam under the Sparta Stadium.<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>KWR\u2019s Communications Manager, Hans Ruijgers, says: \u2018In order to broaden the content of The Circonomist and grow our readership, the editors are constantly on the look-out for interesting news about water, energy and food in the circular economy.
