In his thesis, Van Duuren shows the consequences of two radical future scenarios involving the use of rainwater and the reuse of water in Limburg.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Decentralised drinking water provision<\/h2>\n<p>Diederik van Duuren has won a thesis award from Maastricht University for his Master\u2019s thesis, \u2018Potential transformative changes in water provision systems\u2019. The thesis is partly based on research conducted by KWR, WML and Dunea into the potential and impact of developments in decentralised water provision in the regions of Limburg and South-Holland.<\/p>\n<h2>Use of rainwater is a strategic challenge<\/h2>\n<p>In his thesis, Van Duuren shows the consequences of two radical future scenarios involving the use of rainwater and the reuse of water in Limburg. In doing so he intelligently connects the theoretical literature about transitions and the daily practices of WML. His key conclusion is that the large-scale use of rainwater, together with the impact of climate change, present the most important challenges to the drinking water provision in Limburg.<\/p>\n<h2>Collaboration with KWR<\/h2>\n<p>Stef Koop and Henk-Jan van Alphen took part in the research for KWR. With his thesis Diederik completed the Sustainability Science &amp; Policy Master\u2019s programme.
