KWR Water Research Institute is looking for a strategic and inspiring Chief Executive Officer to help find innovative solutions to global water issues. KWR is internationally recognised as a scientific institute and innovation accelerator. The new CEO will further strengthen this reputation and set the direction of the institute in collaboration with various partners.

About KWR Research Institute

KWR develops knowledge to enable the water sector to operate waterwise. The institute focusses on the practical application of science and contributes to solutions for challenges such as urbanisation, climate change, and the circular economy. Water is essential for both life and society, and KWR strives to ensure water availability in urban and rural environments. With a team of about 200 employees, KWR works with governments, industry, and knowledge institutions to turn scientific findings into applicable innovations.

KWR Chief Executive Officer

The new CEO will be responsible for setting the institute’s strategic course and strengthening KWR’s national and international position. She or he will develop a clear vision and translate this into a mission and strategy for the coming years. In collaboration with the management team, the CEO contributes to realising the ambitions and expanding KWR’s network.

In addition, the CEO acts as the point of contact for the Dutch drinking water companies and maintains relationships with various stakeholders within both the public and private sectors. Internally, the focus is on stimulating innovation and creating an open, collaborative working environment in which employees can make the best possible use of their expertise.

Profile

Leadership in complex environments: The CEO is an experienced executive with strong strategic and implementation skills. She or he has experience leading complex organisations within knowledge-intensive sectors.

Networker and connector: The CEO knows how to effortlessly maintain and build relationships with stakeholders, both within the public and private sectors. The CEO can effectively represent KWR at both national and international levels.

Academic background: The CEO acts as the face of KWR and contributes to strengthening KWR’s reputation as a leading knowledge institute.

Affinity with the water sector: The CEO has a strong affinity with water-related issues and is enthusiastic about the opportunities and challenges within the sector.

Results-orientated and innovative: The CEO is flexible, sees opportunities, and has the drive to turn these into tangible results. The CEO has experience with transitions and is able to lead change.

Strong Communicator: The CEO has excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English and can communicate transparently and convincingly with various interlocutors.
