Nicolien van Aalderen works as a water governance researcher in the Resilience Management & Governance team. Nicolien graduated in the summer of 2018 in Water and Coastal Management; a double Master’s degree for which she studied one year in Groningen and one year in Oldenburg (Germany). In her thesis she focused on public leadership in the energy transition. Nicolien also specifically examined the role of citizen initiatives in her research. She also applies this interest in citizen involvement in policy processes in her research at KWR, where she is active on projects concerning customer awareness of tap water and risk perceptions. Moreover, Nicolien does research on stakeholder collaboration in area planning processes.
