Mario Castro-Gama is a civil engineer from the National University of Colombia. Mario worked for 8 years in consultancy and as a lecturer in Colombia for projects in Latin America. Since February 2018, he joined KWR as advisor/researcher for the water infrastructure (WIS) team. Mario lives in The Netherlands since 7 years ago, when he came to obtain a MSc degree in Water Science Engineering with specialization in Hydroinformatics from UN-IHE, Delft. Currently, he is finalizing his PhD on the subject “Model based simulation-optimization for energy reduction in large water distribution networks” also at UN-IHE. He worked in parallel to his studies with De Haagse Hogeschool for 4 years, where he was a lecturer and liaison for internationalization of the civil engineering program. Member of IAHR and a signee of the EPANET Open Software Initiative.
