Jan Hofman is Principal Scientist in KWR’s Wastewater and Reuse team, and also professor of Water Science and Engineering at the University of Bath in the UK. He has extensive experience in the area of drinking water and wastewater treatment, water quality, and is active in the area of urban water management and water security. At KWR he works on setting up new innovative projects in the field of wastewater and reuse, and is responsible for quality assurance within the team. Jan has a large international network. He chairs the working groups on Urban Water Pollution and Water Security of Water Europe, the European Technology Platform. Internationally, Jan works with UNESCO’s International Hydrology Programme and the International Water Association. At the University of Bath, he is the project leader for NextGen, the European H2020 project. He is also director of the university’s Water Innovation and Research Centre (WIRC), a centre that assembles all of the institution’s water research efforts. WIRC has about 50 academic researchers from a wide range of disciplines and around 50 doctoral students. The centre is also part of the GW4 Water Security Alliance, a collaboration of the universities of Bath, Bristol, Exeter and Cardiff. Moreover, WIRC is a member of Watershare.
