Gabriela Paulus is a researcher and PhD candidate at KWR and the TU Delft, she is also a Marie-Sklodowska-Curie Fellow within the ANSWER-ITN. Gabriela is researching antibiotic resistance in the environment. The transfer of antibiotic resistance genes in water systems is her primary focus. To investigate the uncultivable environmental microorganisms, She employs a range of molecular methods in combination with bioinformatic analysis. These methods include Next Generation Sequencing, multiplex qPCR and epicPCR. Some key activities Gabriela has been involved in are: monitoring programs of surface water systems, hospitals, communal waste water and waste water treatment plants and investigation into horizontal gene transfer under natural conditions using microcosm experiments.
