Dorien Kool is programme manager of DPWE, the joint research programme of the Dutch dune water utilities, Dunea, PWN, Waternet and Evides. Also, within the Joint Research Programme of KWR and the water utilities, Dorien promotes co-makership between KWR researchers and water-utility staff, for the joint development and implementation of knowledge and innovations. Sharing knowledge, connecting people, and knowledge networks are key aspects of Dorien’s activities in the Innovation & Valorisation team. Dorien is also project leader of the Knowledge Valorisation project within the joint Water Quality Knowledge Impulse programme. As programme manager, Dorien is committed to establishing optimal connections between science and practice, to enable a sustainable, future-proof drinking water provision. Dorien holds a PhD in soil science, with an expertise in the interface of soil science, microbiology and biochemistry. Previously, she worked as programme coordinator involved in research coordination and policy.
